Colin Ford CBE was Deputy Curator of the National Film & Television Archive (1965–72) before becoming the first senior curator of photography in any British national museum or gallery (National Portrait Gallery, London, 1972–82). He then became founding head of the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television (now the National Science and Media Museum), Bradford.
