Emily Rees Koerner

Emily Rees Koerner is a historian of technology, gender, and visual culture in Britain in the twentieth century with an emphasis on interdisciplinary methods including outreach, archives and teaching. She is currently a research fellow at Northumbria University working on the project An Institutional History of Internal Communication. Previously, she was a research fellow on the Science Museum Group project Museums and Industry: Long Histories of Collaboration, and on Electrifying Women: Understanding the Long History of Women in Engineering at the University of Leeds, which followed her doctoral research on the domestication of television at the University of Nottingham. In 2023/24, she established the Science Museum Group’s Open Access Repository, and is interested in how academic research can be made more accessible
