Michelle Henning

Michelle Henning is Professor in Photography and Media at the University of Liverpool. As well as photography and visual media, she writes on museums and exhibitions. Her last book, Photography: The Unfettered Image (2018) emphasised the mobility of pre-digital photography. Her new book, A Dirty History of Photography: Chemistry, Fog and Empire will be published by the University of Chicago Press in Autumn 2025. She also works as an artist and designer
