Neil Brown
Retired Head of Collections Documentation, Science Museum

Neil Brown joined the staff of the Science Museum in 1976 as a Research Assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering, working for Brian Bowers and contributing to the new Lighting Gallery. In 1979 he moved to the Department of Physical Sciences, with responsibility for the Electricity and Magnetism Collection and a new gallery displaying it. Subsequently he took charge of a range of other collections. In 2003 he became Head of Collections Documentation. Since retiring in 2006 he has published several academic papers on the history of diffraction gratings and the ruling engines used to make them
