Simon Werrett is Professor of the History of Science at University College London, after postdoctoral fellowships at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and at the Getty Research Center in Los Angeles. He was a professor in the History department at the University of Washington, Seattle. His research explores ‘thrifty science’ involving reuse, repurposing, and adaptation from the seventeenth century to the present, with a particular interest in environmental angles
